As an update to my previous post....

She still doesn't grasp the concept of SNL on Thursday night. As they say on Weekend Update, "Really?"

Saturday Night Live on Thursday

That's a pretty simple concept, right? Everyone knows what SNL is, right? Everyone understands the fact that, given that the word "live" is right there in the title, the show is done live, right? If you're out here on the West Coast, and someone tells you that this episode was shot live on the East Coast and is being shown on the West Coast on tape delay, you're not confounded by that concept are you?

Most people know that SNL is shot in New York, right? I mean the famous catchphrase that's used to start every single episode is "Live from New York, it's Saturday Night!", right? Don't you think that people from New York should know that SNL is shot in New York?

Most people could grasp that just because the show is called Saturday Night Live, they can still do crazy specials on other nights of the week and that doesn't mean that the name of the show changes, right? It doesn't become some sort of new show.

Also, I think this is the first person over 20 I've ever met that has never even heard the name Bill Murray before. I like this person, but sometimes I just don't understand the world she lives in. I'm a little flabbergasted.

Searching for John McCain

I'm a fairly liberal guy. I've always voted Democratic and have never once considered voting for anyone on the Right. I really don't have any problems admitting this, so I have no problem saying that I do not want to see John McCain become the next POTUS. I just don't think that McCain is right for the job. I have numerous reasons for holding this belief and I'd be more than willing to share them with anyone who's interested.

I was going through my usual roundup of political blogs when I came upon a post by Chris Bowers over at Daily Kos. He's compiled a nice little list of news stories that focus on just a few of the reasons not to support John McCain. The best part is, the links he provides, for the most part, use McCain's own words to highlight his flawed policies. Anyway, I thought I'd borrow from Chris and put that list up here for anyone who might be interested in seeing just what a McCain presidency might offer.

The Articles

1--John McCain Votes to Filibuster Minimum Wage Hike

2--McCain housing policy shaped by lobbyist

3--Bush, McCain plug Social Security

4--McCain blasts Obama’s and Clinton’s attacks on NAFTA

5--McCain in NH: Would Be "Fine" To Keep Troops in Iraq for "A Hundred Years"

6--McCain: Bush right to veto kids health insurance expansion

7--Senate passes expanded GI bill despite Bush, McCain opposition

8--McCain says overturn the law that legalized abortion

9--McCain Defends Bush's Iraq Strategy

I'd say that's a pretty good start.

I see things

Today at work I watched, for a full 5 minutes, a squirrel torment and humiliate a dog that should have easily been able to tear it to shreds. There wasn't a thing that poor pooch could do to stop that determined little rodent. Score one for the little guy!

Catharsis

I figure the best way to start this blog off is with an inaugural haiku. It's Sunday and I'm feeling a little spiritual, and perhaps a little Japanese. Without further adieu ado, here it is:

Creativity.
That word has five syllables.
Man, this haiku sucks.
